Jamestown Public Schools was ranked in the top 50 Upstate New York Schools, and not on a good list.

According to a report from NYUpstate.com, JPS is ranked 17th in school-age poverty percentage at 40.8%.

The estimates show that 2,213 school-age people are in poverty out of 5,423 total school-age students. The district’s total poverty rate is at 28.5%.

According to the reports, the stats are from the U.S. Census Bureau as part of their 2017 Five-year Poverty Estimates, and don’t necessarily reflect just students who go to a public school in the district.

Salamanca, Pine Valley, Gowanda, Dunkirk, and Brocton school districts also made the list.
